How to Fix the “style.css Missing” Error While Uploading Themes?

If you’re seeing the “style.css missing” error while uploading a theme, it usually means you’ve uploaded the wrong file. Here’s how to fix it:

✅ Step 1: Unzip the Theme First

1. After downloading the theme, locate the .zip file on your computer.
2. Extract/Unzip the file.
3. Inside the extracted folder, you’ll find multiple files and folders, including:
   • The actual theme file (another theme-name.zip file) – this is the one you need to upload.
   • Documentation, licensing info, or demo content.
   • Required plugins folder (if included).

⚙️ Step 2: Install the Theme

1. Go to Appearance > Themes > Add New.
2. Click the Upload Theme button.
3. Select the theme-name.zip file (the inner zip file, not the full package).
4. Click Install Now, then Activate the theme.

🔌 Step 3: Install Required Plugins

1. After activating the theme, you’ll see a notification to install required plugins.
2. Go to Appearance > Install Plugins.
3. [Important] If your downloaded folder contains named plugins, install them:
   • Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
   • Upload and activate each required plugin from the downloaded file.
